Abu Dhabi roads to temporarily close for Qasr Al Hosn Festival
ABU DHABI // A number of roads will be temporarily closed on Wednesday afternoon for the opening of the Qasr Al Hosn Festival.
Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, from Al Falah Street to Hamdan Bin Mohammad Street; Al Nasr Street, from Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street to Khalid Bin Al Walid Street; Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street, from Zayed The First Street to Al Nast Street; and Zayed the First Street, from Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street to Khalid Bin Al Walid Street will be closed from about 3.30pm to 8pm, according to the Safety and Traffic Solutions Committee. There will also be a partial closure of 21st Street.
Schools that normally end at 2pm will not be affected by the road closures, but some private schools in the area have sent notices to parents advising them to pick up their children early as the roads may close as early as 3pm.
Parents are advised to check with their children’s schools whether it is affected.
The annual Qasr Al Hosn festival will take place from Wednesday until February 13 at the site of the historic Qasr Al Hosn fort.
The festival celebrates Abu Dhabi’s history and cultural traditions through a number of interactive workshops, exhibitions and performances. Tickets can be purchased at the festival entrance for Dh10 for visitors ages five and older.
On Wednesday, the festival will open to the public at 8:30pm then from Thursday until its final day it will run from 4pm to 11pm.
On Sunday, February 7, however, it will only be open to women and children.
