Abu Dhabi residents urged to report illegal immigrants

Anyone who hires or houses an illegal immigrant could face two months in prison or a Dh100,000 fine.

A campaign to educate residents about illegal immigration was launched in the capital yesterday.

The "No To Violators" campaign highlights the federal law governing entry to and residency of foreigners.

Anyone who hires or houses an illegal immigrant could face two months in prison or a Dh100,000 fine, and employing a foreigner who is not in your sponsorship part-time carries a Dh50,000 penalty.

The campaign will encourage every citizen and legal resident in the country to help combat the phenomenon of illegal infiltration.
