Abu Dhabi residents can now report suspicious or illegal activities using an app on their mobile phones.

The app, called Inform the Prosecution, is available in both Arabic and English for iPhone and Android devices.

"The application seeks to increase communication between the community and the judiciary through modern technology, in a way that preserves community security, as part of our corporate social responsibility programmes,” said Ali Al Baloushi, Attorney General of Abu Dhabi in a statement on Wam.

"Security and stability in the community can only be maintained through joint efforts by both individuals and institutions, each in his position,'' he stated.

Users can explain the suspicious or illegal activity, and report when and where it happened, attaching a photo, video or voice clip, via the app. They can remain anonymous if they wish.

''A number for the e-notification will be sent to the sender's mobile phone through a text message, following which legal procedures will be initiated,'' said Hassan Al Hammadi, director of the Prosecutions Department.
