Abu Dhabi Police fined 85 drivers in the first three months of 2018 for littering.
Drivers are responsible to remind passengers, be they adults or children, that they have a responsibility to protect the environment and dispose of litter in a correct and civilised manner, the police said in a statement.
Police fined 85 drivers in the first quarter of the year for violating article 71 of the traffic law. Violators must pay a fine of Dh1,000 and receive six points on their registration.
Abu Dhabi Police will campaign against uncivilised behaviour and indifference towards the country’s environmental and cultural appearance, said a statement by Brigadier Ahmed Al Shehhi, the deputy director of Traffic and Patrols Department in the central operations section.
He called on drivers and passengers to encourage positive behaviour with each other. Failing this, the law will be strictly applied.
