A man was arrested in Abu Dhabi after trying to rob a money exchange shop using a rock and pepper spray.

The masked 54-year-old man tried to break the glass protecting the cashiers using a rock and spray one of the workers with pepper spray.

Police said they arrested the Filipino at his wife's house soon after the attempted robbery was reported.

“The suspect was surprised to be caught in his wife's house as police quickly identified him and reached his residence, although he was wearing a mask,” said Col Dr Rashid Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police.
