ABU DHABI // Jet ski owners must register their craft with the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi from Sunday.
Owners of watercraft must visit the Unified Centre at Mina where an inspection of their jet skis will take place.
They will have to fill out an application form, and present an Emirates ID card, a bill of sale or other proof of ownership, customs clearance certificates if necessary and 13 month valid insurance.
A similar programme to register watercraft owned by rental companies is already in operation.
In July, the department announced the areas jet skis were banned from travelling due to safety concerns.
These are the Corniche, Al Bateen, Ras Al Akhdar, Al Maqta Khor, North Saadiyat Island and Al Raha Beach.
