Inspectors go to produce shops at Zayed Port, dump 84kg of bad fruits and vegetables.

Inspectors from Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority issued 41 warnings to produce shops at Zayed Port after a surprise inspection. A total of 84 kilograms of bad vegetables and fruits were discarded.

Twelve general inspectors carried out the inspection and covered 86 establishments in all parts of the market.

Mohammed Jalal Al Rissi, director of communication and community service, said the 84kg of vegetables and fruits were found to be unfit for human consumption. Thirty stalls were checked for adherence to regulations. Others would be inspected in later visits.

The main violations involved poor storage of products and display of rotten products.
