It's not too often you get to see a sheikh swimming with sharks.

But the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, was only too happy to get up close and personal with some massive sea creatures in celebration of a milestone Shark Week.

Sheikh Hamdan is always happy to share his adventures with his 6.5 million Instagram followers - be it sky diving and ice walking, standing proudly on top of the Burj Khalifa or even capturing footage of a tiny bird land on his head - and he has now made another big social media splash.

Sheikh Hamdan posted eye-catching video and his very own whale shark selfie, of his experience swimming with giant sharks on his official Instagram account.

The impressive pictures come as the Dicovery Channel toasts the 30th anniversary of its annual Shark Week.

The event, which kicked off on Sunday, screens in more than 70 countries every year – and this year it celebrates its 30th anniversary on screen.
