86kg of hashish seized in joint efforts by Gulf states
UAE anti-drugs authorities have helped their Saudi and Qatari counterparts seize a total of 86kg of hashish in two recent operations.
The Ministry of Interior contributed intelligence that led to the seizure of 60kg of hashish in Saudi Arabia and Dubai Police tipped off Qatari authorities, helping them to confiscate 26kg of the same drug.
Maj Gen Abdul Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi, head of Dubai's anti-narcotics department, said Dubai Police had developed a reputation for providing highly reliable information and conducting successfull sting operations, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
