63 prisoners to be released in RAK
RAS AL KHAIMAH // The ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has ordered the release of 63 prisoners from jails in the emirate.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi's order came after the prisoners, who are of various nationalities, "pledged to pay all financial obligations", a report on state news agency WAM said.
The move was welcomed by Hassan Saeed Muhaimed Al Habsi, a RAK public prosecutor, who told WAM it was a humanitarian gesture to reunite citizens and residents with their families.
Mr Al Habsi said public prosecutors had already begun coordinating with prisons to begin release of the prisoners.
