13-year-old boy drowns in Ras al Khaimah pond

Boy lost his balance while playing with friends and fell into the pond and drowned.

A 13-year-old Emirati boy has drowned in a pond at a farm in Ras al Khaimah.

The boy was playing with a group of his friends last Wednesday when he lost his balance and fell into the water and drowned. His friends immediately rushed to tell his family.

Lt Col Salem al Darmaki, the director of the Criminal Investigation Department at RAK Police, urged all farmers to fence off swimming pools and ponds to keep others safe.

He said parents should monitor their children at all times, particularly around areas with water, flammable materials and hazardous waste.
