DUBAI // Municipal inspectors pulled 100 products from shelves following health and safety inspections in Dubai shops last year.

The civic body inspected 1,292 groceries, supermarkets, hypermarkets, medical shops and other specialised stores last year, according to a statement released yesterday.

It also visited 493 new outlets, inspected 51 in free zones and 292 stalls in Global Village.

"We received 33 complaints related to consumer products," said Naseem Mohammed Rafee, head of Consumer Products Safety division at Dubai Municipality. "As part of the inspection procedure we pulled [products] to be sent to Dubai Central Laboratory for tests."
