DUBAI // A tailor molested a mute woman visiting his shop while her family stood nearby, a court heard yesterday.

The Yemeni woman was visiting the shop at Naif souq with her mother and sister-in-law on July 2 this year when the attack occurred.

In written testimony, the woman explained to the Criminal Court that her two relatives were busy talking to one tailor when another one, the Bangladeshi TM, 24, passed behind her.

"He touched my behind but I thought it was by mistake because the place was small," she wrote in her testimony.

However, he then touched her again and she realised it was not a mistake

"The second time he did it, he rubbed his body against my behind," the woman testified.

She rushed over to her mother and sister-in-law and told them using sign language what had happened.

Her mother called police and the tailor was arrested.

A verdict is expected on September 23.
