DUBAI // Police have made one of their biggest drugs seizures at sea, arresting a gang on a wooden boat travelling from Asia to Africa.

Dubai Police revealed the seizure of 1,032kg of heroin on World Anti-Narcotics Day on Thursday, which takes place every June 26.

The bust, which was named “Ocean Coast”, was aided by the US consulate in Dubai and coalition naval forces in the Indian Ocean, Maj Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police’s chief, said, adding that the force was currently running several awareness campaigns to reduce drug use.
