Albadr Alshateri received BA from Indiana University- Bloomington, where he studied political science, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. He also received a certificate in African studies from the same university. He received masters degree in political science and another in Middle Eastern and North African Studies from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Moreover, he received a Ph.D from the same university, specializing in comparative politics, international relations and political economy. Albadr was awarded Richard Mitchell Award for the meritorious student from Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies, Top Student’s Prize from Ministry of Education, UAE, and Sheikh Rashid Award from The Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai. He also won a prize for his dissertation entitled "The Political Economy Of State Formation: The United Arab Emirates in Comparative Perspective", from Society for Arab Gulf Studies (USA).
