DUBAI // For the Expo 2020 supporter who has it all – a free email service has launched to promote the event.

The service, which will enable users to create email accounts with the domain name@expo2020mail.com, has already started a soft roll out ahead of its launch in mid-January. That’s provided Dubai wins the bid of course.

George Varghese, the director of Indian firm Intensity Corporation, said so far 6,800 people had signed up.

"There is a lot of enthusiasm for the Expo 2020, especially in Dubai," he said. "However, the number of platforms for people to express their enthusiasm are limited."

There are 15,000 email addresses available, with plans to open up a further 300,000 in mid-January.

However, should Dubai fail to win the bid on November 27, Mr Varghese said the company would suspend the service.

“We think Dubai will win,” he said. “But if for some reason it doesn’t we’ll wind up the service after a few months.”
