Yogi Group in Sharjah cup final after close win
Yogi Group survived a compelling fightback from William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana before chalking up a tense, three-run victory in a semi-final match of the 23rd Sharjah Ramadan Tournament for the Interface Transworld Cup at the Sharjah Stadium. Yogi Group will take on Lanka Lions in the final of the tournament, being organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council. If the script holds good, Yogi Group could well end up recording a grand double as they have already made it to the final against Rufi Real Estate in the second Al Dhaid Ramadan T-20 Tournament for the Conmix Cup.
Powered by a solid innings of 40 by Swapnil Patil, Yogi Group posted a challenging 151 for seven in the allotted 25 overs. The former Mumbai Ranji Trophy player smashed four fours in his 57-ball innings. Avdoot (29 not out off 17 balls with one four and two sixes) and Salman Faris (19 off 20 balls with one four and one six) further consolidated the innings. Asim Khursheed was the most successful bowler for the Abu Dhabi team, taking three wickets for 40 runs while Zeeshan Safer and Mohammed Nadeem picked up two each. William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana, in reply, had their moments to wrap up the match, but they stumbled at the finishing line, thanks to some incisive bowling by Kamran Shehzad and Usman Hameed, who both grabbed three wickets each. * Agency
