Wasps' top day
Danny Cipriani kicked London Wasps back to the top of the table as they made it three wins on the bounce with a 23-3 triumph at home to Worcester yesterday. The England fly-half kicked 13 points, including two drop goals, to ensure his side usurped Saracens to lead the Premiership. A Serge Betsen try, converted by Cipriani, gave Wasps a 7-0 lead at the break. Cipriani stretched Wasps' lead after the interval with his kicking, before Tom Varndell sealed the win with a last-minute converted try.
Leeds Carnegie's miserable start continued as they were well beaten 56-7 at home by London Irish yesterday, with Adam Thompstone scoring a hat-trick of tries for Irish. The hosts have yet to win this ytear and never looked like doing so as Ryan Lamb kicked 21 points, Chris Hala'ufia scored two tries, Sailosi Tagicakibau claimed one and there was an early penalty try. Kearnan Myalls got the lone Leeds try.
Meanwhile, Leicester Tigers won on Saturday as they defeated the Newcastle Falcons 15-6. Five penalties from Jeremy Staunton proved enough for Leicester to triumph. * With agencies
