Al Shabab v Al Wasl

Laurent Banide's Al Wasl are looking to win back their fans' confidence as they begin their season with a trip to city rivals Al Shabab.

"Al Wasl is one of the biggest clubs in the country with a large fan base," said the Frenchman, who moved to the club from Al Dhafra this summer.

"Starting with this match against Al Shabab, our first job is to prove we are a better team than last season and win back the trust of our fans. Then, with their support, we will work hard to achieve our goals."

Al Shaab v Al Jazira

Luis Milla, the Al Jazira coach, has warned his players not to underestimate Al Shaab when the two sides meet in League Cup at Sharjah Stadium today.

"Shaab have caused us some trouble in the past and winning this match will require a great effort from our players," he said.

"But I believe our team has improved significantly from last season and I have great confidence in my players. I know they will fight against a stubborn opponent and make sure we return home with three points from our first game."
