UAE FA president pleased with Wahda show

Mohammed Khalfan al Rumaithi, the president of the Football Association, says Al Wahda performed well at this year's Club World Cup.

Mohammed Khalfan al Rumaithi, the president of the Football Association, said he was satisfied with the performance of Pro League side Al Wahda, who won once, and lost twice. He said he hoped that UAE sides could qualify for the tournament in the future by winning the Asian Champions League.

Blatter has been a busy man

Sepp Blatter, the Fifa president, has been in and out of the country during the Club World Cup. He saw both semi-finals, then flew to Qatar yesterday, missing a press conference. According to a Fifa official, Blatter went to Doha to take part in the signing of documents pertaining to the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Shin critical of match official

Shin Tae-yong, the coach of Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, conceded his team fell to a superior side in a 3-0 loss to Inter Milan, but criticised the referee Roberto Moreno. Shin said Moreno ignored Inter's overly physical play and said Javier Zanetti was guilty of a handball in the build-up to the third goal.
