UAE claim cycling bronze as Arab Games close

The UAE cycling team rode off to a bronze medal as the Arab Games in Doha, Qatar came to a close. Egypt topped the medals table wth 232, including 88 golds. The UAE finished 11th with 35 total medals.

 

The UAE cycling team of Khaled Ali Theni, Yousif Al Hammadi and Bader Al Blooshi won the bronze medal in the men's road race Friday at the Arab Games in Doha, Qatar.

The games ended with Egypt topping the medals table with 232, including 88 gold. The UAE was 11th with 35 total medals - 10 gold, nine silver and 16 bronze.

In the individual cycling competition, Ali Theni was fourth, Al Hammadi was fifth and Al Blooshi was 14th. Also, Ahmed Al Mansoori was 15th, Badr Al Hammadi Mirta was 28th and Mansoor Al Balooshi was 44th.

In equestrian, two UAE riders made it into the second round of the jumping competition. Mohamed Al Owais of the UAE was seventh, riding Tolita, and Sheikh Shakhboot Al Nahyan was 10th, riding Valentino Valia.

In men's trap qualification, Hamad Al Kendi was 11th, Rashed Al Kendi was 17th and Ahmed Bin Sultan was 20th.
