Two professional players allowed in Etisalat Reserve League

Two professional players will be allowed to participate for each club in the Etisalat Reserve League, the technical committee of the professional league's interim board has ruled.

Two professional players will be allowed to participate for each club in the Etisalat Reserve League, the technical committee of the professional league's interim board has ruled.

The decision follows the earlier ruling by the interim committee allowing clubs to register four professional players with the senior team during the 2011/12 season as long as one of the four holds a passport from an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) country.

At the meeting it was also agreed that the technical committee will meet with the representatives of the league's official broadcasters - Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Dubai Sports Channel - next week to discuss match schedules and finalise kick-off timings.

The committee approved a proposal submitted by the clubs to allow Reserve League matches to be played on the same day as the senior team matches, but at the stadium of the visiting team, instead of playing the game on the home team pitch the following day as was the case in previous seasons.

Previously, Reserve League matches were played the following day on the same pitch which the senior teams had used.

The meeting also reviewed preparations and arrangements to welcome the AFC ahead of their inspection visit in November. The AFC will gauge compliance with rules on professionalism.
