Transfer talk: Paris Saint-Germain land David Beckham on deadline day

Beckham goes to PSG for five months but will donate earnings to charity, Samba signs for QPR, plus all the completed transfer deals before deadline.

David Beckham completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain last night and said he had to turn down offers from England because he could not bear to face Manchester United.

The former England captain, 37, revealed he will play without a salary at PSG, instead donating what he would have earned to a children's charity in Paris.

He has signed a five-month contract and confirmed the presence of Carlo Ancelotti and Leonardo, the head coach and sporting director, had persuaded him to join the wealthy French giants.

Beckham knows both men from time he spent on loan at AC Milan.

"I'm very lucky. I'm 37 years old and I got a lot of offers, more now than I've probably had in my career. I'm very honoured by that," Beckham said at a news conference. "I chose Paris because I can see what the club are trying to do. I can see who the club are trying to bring in.

"It's an exciting city and now there's a club that's going to have a lot of success over the next 10, 20, 30 years. I'm very honoured I've been picked to be part of the future of PSG.

"Every club I've played for throughout the world I've been successful with. I was successful with Manchester United and always said I'd never want to play for another English club. I had a lot of history with Manchester United. It's the team I support and the team I dreamt of playing for.

"I'm very honoured by the offers I had from other Premier League clubs but I didn't want to play there unless it was for Manchester United."

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of French midfielder Yacouba Sylla from Ligue 2 outfit Clermont Foot on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Arriving on transfer deadline day, Sylla becomes the first new arrival of the January transfer window for Villa, who are currently 19th in the Barclays Premier League.

The defensive-minded player passed a medical this morning and is eligible to make his debut in Saturday's league clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

Sylla, who has represented France at Under-21 level, said: "I'm very excited about the prospect of playing for Aston Villa and also to be playing in the Premier League.

Sunderland have confirmed the £5million signing of Danny Graham from Swansea City on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

QPR have forked out a club record fee to secure the signing of Anzhi defender Christopher Samba on a four-and-a-half year deal.

The former Blackburn centre-back was one of the west Londoners' key targets for transfer deadline day as Harry Redknapp looks to shore up his defence.

That deal is now complete, with Samba joining for an undisclosed club record fee, subject to the player receiving international clearance.

Fulham manager Martin Jol is close to bringing in AC Milan's Urby Emanuelson and PSV right-back Stanislav Manolev.

The Craven Cottage manager has so far been frustrated in his attempts to bring in reinforcements this month, with Emmanuel Frimpong the only first-team addition.

Asked if he was close to signing Emanuelson, Jol nodded and said: "It is a loan until the end of the season. It is not easy to get players from AC Milan on a permanent basis.

"I coached him at Ajax. He is a skilful player, very agile. He is very mobile, quick."

The Dutchman, speaking after Fulham's 3-1 defeat of West Ham, also played down talk that Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone could arrive at Craven Cottage.

"I think it is awful to get a permanent transfer for someone like Tom Huddlestone on the last day," Jol said.
