Tim Cahill has signed with Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls after a frustrating season in which he scored just two league goals for Everton in the Premier League.
Cahill, 32, joins international stars Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez in the Red Bulls squad. Cahill has played in Australia's last two World Cup teams.
"I am very happy to start a new chapter of my career with the New York Red Bulls," the Australian said. "As we have seen over the past few years, MLS has developed into a very competitive league with many talented players.
"I am impressed with what the Red Bulls are trying to accomplish in MLS and within American soccer and I am looking forward to this new challenge."
Cahill, who had two years left on his contract, joined the Toffees from Millwall in 2004, scoring 68 goals in 278 appearances.
Meanwhile, new Norwich City signing Robert Snodgrass admitted the chance to play in the Premier League was too good to pass up.
Norwich yesterday completed the signing of the midfielder from Leeds United on a three-year deal.
The 24 year old, who joined the Canaries for an undisclosed fee, became manager Chris Hughton's third summer signing following Jacob Butterfield and Steven Whittaker.
Snodgrass said: "I'm delighted to get it done and dusted and now I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates and starting the season.
"I firmly believe that the Premier League is the best league in the world, and when Norwich came in for me, I made the step because I believe that Norwich can kick on again.
"Sometimes this window of opportunity doesn't come about too often, and I jumped at the chance."
