Tom Daley among the star names heading to Dubai for Fina/NVC Diving World Series

The best divers in the world, including Britain’s Tom Daley, will descend on Dubai next week for the second leg of the 2016 Fina/NVC Diving World Series.

Taking place at the Hamdan Sports Complex from 17-19 March, the Diving World Series will welcome 69 competitors from 12 countries who will be looking to continue their preparation for this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Along with Daley, the 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, American David Boudia, Jennifer Abel of Canada, and Tania Cagnotto of Italy will all be in attendance.

In support of the event, the UAE Swimming Federation is inviting all schools across the UAE to attend the morning session of action from 10am until midday on Thursday, y March 17 when students will witness the 10 metre platform synchronised finals.

“We are delighted to be welcoming the world’s best divers as well as newcomers to Dubai,” Ahmed Al Falasi, President of the UAE Swimming Federation, said. “With such an impressive line-up as well as it being an Olympic year, we are set for a fantastic display of diving.

“It’s great that we will see the world’s best divers in Dubai and we encourage all diving fans and sport enthusiasts to come to one of the best aquatic venues in the world.”

The 2016 Fina/NVC Diving World Series event consists of four legs and begins in Beijing on March 11-13, before coming to Dubai. From here, the series moves on to Windsor in Canada, before the final leg in the Russian city of Kazan on April 22-24.

Tickets will be available at the door at the Hamdan Sports Complex on the Emirates Road. Tickets are Dh40 per day, entry for children under 12 is free.
