DUBAI // Sharjah have fired coach Valeriu Tita and appointed Abdulmajeed Al Nimr as the manager of the team who are struggling at the bottom of the Pro League table.

Al Nimr becomes the side's fourth coach this season, with Carlos Azenha and Jorvan Vieira the other men to work with team since July. Azenha returned home to Portugal, citing personal reasons, before the start of the season and Tita was appointed in his place.

The Romanian's first period in charge lasted until December, when he was dismissed and Vieira was given the job. The Brazilian, however, was shown the door after just over 40 days and Tita was reinstated in February.

The changes have not helped and Sharjah have now gone 10 matches without a league win. They have managed just three points from those matches and are bottom of the table with 10 points.

"I know we are in a very difficult situation, but I did not hesitate to accept this job because I am one of the sons of the club," said Al Nimr.

With five games still to play in the Pro League, Al Nimr is hoping he can help Sharjah survive the drop. His first match, however, will be the President's Cup semi-final against Al Jazira on Sunday.

"The coming period is a really challenging one for us and we need to unite and work as one to save the team in the Pro League and appear with honour in the President's Cup," Al Nimr said. "We have five matches in the league and we still have hopes of surviving."

The club also dismissed team manager Abdullah Ibrahim and the administrative manager Ahmed Badr, and appointed Ahmad Mubarak and Jassem Aiwan in their places.
