At the tender age of 26, it appears Tim Tebow has taken that much-travelled path from football field to commentary booth.

But just because no NFL coach would take a chance on the quarterback who led the Denver Broncos to the 2011 play-offs, does not mean the football public is done with him.

A Heisman Trophy winner – college football’s top player award – and a two-time national champion at the University of Florida, Tebow has had a rocky professional career.

Since the final snap of the 2011 season, the numbers have failed to add up for him, with coaches suggesting that the powerful Tebow’s inaccurate throwing makes him a liability in the NFL.

After little action with the New York Jets in 2012, he did not play at all in 2013. Sports network ESPN, however, wasted no time in getting their favourite athlete back on the air.

During his first broadcast, ahead of the college football national championship game this week, Tebow looked nervous, but he was concise, informative and almost spot-on in his prediction of the final score.

“Auburn might be a team of destiny, but tonight Florida State is deeper from top to bottom,” Tebow said. “With Jameis Winston and Telvin Smith’s leadership in the fourth quarter, I think they win 35-31.”

The Seminoles defeated Auburn 34-31. Perhaps Tebow’s accuracy issues are finally behind him.
