ABU DHABI // The chance to see the cream of the world’s young footballers in action is now even more attractive – it’s free.

Match tickets for the Fifa Under 17 World Cup will be handed out throughout the country before the big kick-off on Thursday.

The tournament “will be a wonderful festival of football, showcasing the world’s very best young players in the largest football event in the history of UAE,” said Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the head of the organising committee and the Minister for Culture, Youth and Community Development.

“It is an event that will inspire young people and it is so important that we work closely with the venue organising committees in giving as many fans as possible the chance to watch the action live in the stadiums.

“That is why the venue organising committees have taken the step to offer all fans in the UAE the chance to get their hands on a match ticket. This is one of the most popular youth tournaments in the world and our priority is to engage with the next generation of football stars to celebrate the sport and witness the rise of tomorrow’s legends from the UAE and all of the qualifying nations competing.”

Tickets are available at Hallmark stores in Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain, Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah, City Centre Mall in Fujairah, Sahara Mall in Sharjah and Dubai Mall. Tickets are also available online at the tournament website and at the official Fifa U17 World Cup Fan Zone on Abu Dhabi Corniche's East Plaza from Thursday until November 8.
