DUBAI // Three Emirati polo-playing brothers and an Argentine professional claimed the La Martina Copa Republica de Argentina Cup at the Dubai Polo Club yesterday.

The young al Drai brothers, Mohammed, 14, and Khalid and Rashid, both 17, pulled off a mature performance alongside their long-time coach and captain of five years, the four-goal Nico Petracchi.

Their Falcon Team, from Desert Palm Polo Club, scored six and one-half goals against the two by their opponents, Dr A Polo Team, led by the accomplished player, Dr Abdul Rahman.

Mohammed al Drai, the youngest player on the field, was given the most valuable player award and said: "It was OK. There were a few things I could have improved on but I will work on it for next time."

There are four polo-playing al Drai brothers, with the oldest, Saeed, 36, sitting out this match.

Petracchi, who has been based at Desert Palm for eight years, said: "They have worked very hard. They started playing together five years ago and I taught them how to ride and how to play polo at the same time. They show lot of potential and dedication and are great ambassadors for this country."
