WATCH: Contrasting emotions ahead of US Open for Sloane Stephens, Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki
Three of the women's elite players reflect on their chances at the season's final major tournament
Three of the top contenders for this year's US Open women's singles title spoke late on Friday, including defending champion Sloane Stephens, Simona Halep, and Caroline Wozniacki.
Stephens, seeded third this year, conceded to feeling the stress and pressure of trying to win back to back titles but said she will do her best to handle it.
World No 1 Simona Halep, a semi-finalist in 2015, said she is feeling more relaxed after her win at the French Open and ready to add a US Open title.
The Romanian will need to get by either Venus or Serena Williams in an expected fourth-round meeting, however.
Caroline Wozniacki, who defeated Halep in the Australian Open final, said she would love to hoist a US Open trophy, and starting off the year with a win in Australia was a giant confidence boost. Wozniacki was a finalist in New York in 2009 and 2014.
