Novak Djokovic fought back from a set down to win a thrilling Shanghai Masters final against Andy Murray this afternoon.
The Serbian gained revenge on reigning champion Murray for his US Open defeat after overcoming a one set deficit to win 5-7 7-6 6-3.
A gruelling first set contained seven breaks of serve as the players went toe-to-toe in a breathtaking display of power hitting, with neither able to grab the initiative.
But third seed Murray, 25, made what proved to be the crucial breakthrough in the 11th game, recovering from 0-40 to break for a 6-5 lead as an infuriated Djokovic destroyed his racquet, tossing it away in disgust.
Then Murray wasted five championship points as the Serbian somehow stayed alive in the second set.
He broke when Murray was serving for the match, before going on to win a remarkable tie-break 13-11.
The world number two broke the Scot's resolve in the decider to claim a 5-7 7-6 (13/11) 6-3 victory in three hours 21 minutes.
It was two-time defending champion Murray's first defeat in Shanghai in 13 matches.
