Pablo Carreno Busta has committed to this year's Mubadala World Tennis Championship, the tournament organisers confirmed on Monday.

Carreno Busta, who reached a career-high world No 10 last week after making it to his first major semi-final at the US Open, will join fellow Spaniard and world No 1 Rafael Nadal at the competition, to be held in Abu Dhabi from December 28-30.

The 10th iteration of the tournament, considered an ideal warm up for the following year's Australian Open, will also feature world No 7 Dominic Thiem of Austria and Milos Raonic, the 11th-ranked Canadian - should they be fit.

Carreno Busta, who claimed his third ATP Title at the Estoril Open in Portugal and has enjoyed a largely successful season, is looking forward to his first outing in the Arabian Gulf.

“I am very excited to be competing in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship against the world’s top players," Carreno Busta, 26, said.

"This will be my first time competing in the Middle East and I’m looking forward to meeting the fans in the UAE. To take home the trophy would be an amazing feeling.”

The organisers will soon announce the participation of two more players to complete this year's line up, but tickets are on sale via www.ticketmaster.ae and all Virgin Megastores across the UAE.
