Young tennis fans in the UAE can now play their part in making the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) a success – by signing up as a ball kid.

Registrations are now open for the MWTC ball kids programme, operated by Zayed Sports Academy at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City and aimed at kids aged 12 to 17. Those chosen to be a MWTC ball kid will receive seven weeks of specialised training.

The select group will help in ensuring things move along smoothly on court during the championship, which will have a star-studded line-up including world No 2 Rafael Nadal, world No 4 Daniil Medvedev and five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova and Amanda Anisimova in the women’s match.

To register to be a ball kid, visit @zscacademy on Instagram, or log on to www.mubadalawtc.com.

Tickets start from Dh100 for adults and are now on sale at www.ticketmaster.ae and Virgin Megastores across the UAE. Three-day packages are also available with savings of 20 per cent.

For the second year running, day one will be kids’ day with children 12 and under allowed free entry.

Traditionally held over three days between Christmas and New Year, the 2019 event has been moved to an earlier date of December 19-21.
