World No 4 welcomes Andy Murray's former coach as he looks to improve on his record in New York
Alexander Zverev announces Ivan Lendl as part of coaching team for US Open
Ivan Lendl, the eight-time grand slam champion and former coach of Andy Murray, has joined the coaching team of world No 4 Alexander Zverev.
Zverev, 21, announced Lendl's arrival on his Instagram account with the caption "Welcome to the team Ivan Lendl".
It appeared to indicate that Lendl will be part of the 21-year-old German's entourage for the US Open in New York, which starts next Monday.
Lendl guided Murray to US Open glory in 2012 and two Wimbledon titles before they parted ways, for a second time, in November of last year.
Zverev, regarded as the future of men's tennis, is yet to make a major impact at any grand slam tournaments so far in his short career. The German, who has won nine times on the ATP Tour including three Masters 1000 titles, reached his first quarter-final at the French Open in May.
His best effort at the US Open is the second round, which he achieved in 2016 and '17.
