Mariano Donda has had his suspension for his red card against Al Shabab in Al Wasl’s opening UAE League Cup match on September 3 reduced from five games to three after a successful appeal.

The Argentine playmaker has already served two matches of his ban, but he is now eligible for selection for their League Cup match away to Emirates on October 4.

Donda missed the second half of last season following an injury sustained during training in October. He was able to play in only five matches before having an operation, in Qatar, in January.

Signed by Diego Maradona in 2011, the 31-year-old Donda offers experience in a young Wasl squad and the recent development will have come as good news to the Dubai club.
