Spurs are the latest English Premier League club to be linked with a takeover. According to reports in the English media, a "super-rich" investor from south-east Asia is discussing the possibility of buying the club. The super-agent, Pino Zahavi, who brokered Roman Abramovich's purchase of Chelsea in 2003, was in Singapore over the weekend for talks with an, as yet, unnamed businessman.
A source told The Observer: "The discussions are at a preliminary stage, but the investor is a billionaire and views Spurs as perfect because of the profile of the club and the fact they are in London. "This last point is very important." The Enic investment group, fronted by Joe Lewis, have owned the majority of Spurs' shares since 2001 and they are rumoured to be valued at £400million (Dh2.7bn), the same amount Lewis is reported to have lost after the collapse of American investment bank Bear Stearns.
