The Portuguese international Simao bid a tearful farewell to Atletico Madrid after signing a two-year deal with Turkey's Besiktas.

"It's difficult for me to talk right now. I want to thank the club for having faith in me and paying so much to Benfica to sign me," said Simao, who joined Atletico in 2007 from the Portuguese side Benfica.

"I don't think I have defrauded anyone. When I arrived I said I would do my best to win a title and I eventually ended up with two in Europe," he added, fighting back tears. "It hurts to leave this club because it is where I have had the most friends and where I have felt at home."

Also, Barcelona will face Manchester United, AC Milan and the Mexican team America on their tour of the United States next summer as part of the club's pre-season preparations.

The United match is scheduled for July 30 in Washington, with the game against Milan on August 3 in Miami. The tour will conclude in Dallas on August 6 with Barcelona taking on America.

The club hopes the six-date tour, which includes three matches in Europe before the team depart for the US, will net Barcelona US$8.1 million (Dh29.7m).
