Marian Hossa scored two goals and Johan Franzen netted during a power-play early in the third period as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Florida Panthers 3-2. Ty Conklin made 25 saves for Detroit, who have won four out of five games, while Richard Zednik and Stephen Weiss scored for Florida. The defenceman Dan Hamhuis scored in overtime to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
JP Dumont, Ryan Jones and Joel Ward also scored and Dan Ellis stopped 32 shots for the Predators, who had lost 15 of their last 18 visits to Anaheim (1-15-2). Andy McDonald scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the St Louis Blues to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. David Perron and rookie Cam Paddock also scored and Lee Stempniak collected three assists for St Louis, who halted a six-game winless streak (0-5-1).
Elsewhere, Vyacheslav Kozlov's power-play goal early in the third period proved to be the difference as the Atlanta Thrashers extended their winning run to a franchise record-tying five games with a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. * PA Sport
