LONDON // Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal's young midfielder, is set to return to action next month and he is hoping he can fulfil his billing as one of the club's best prospects.

When Ramsey, 19, suffered a double leg break following a tackle by Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross in February, there were immediate fears about whether he would ever recover sufficiently to play at the top level.

In the summer, Arsenal sold Eduardo, the Croatian striker, to Shaktar Donetsk when it became clear he was not going to be the same force despite recovering from a similar injury.

But Arsenal are optimistic that Ramsey, a Welsh international, will not be similarly affected given his rapid road to recovery over the last eight months.

Following a physically tough rehabilitation programme, Ramsey kicked a ball in "anger" for the first time this week and said: "I'm now outside training with the fitness coach and I feel good.

"I am a very motivated guy and I've missed football a lot, it's made me realise how much it means to me. I just want to get back out there and start doing what I used to do.

"I hate being in the gym. That's the worst bit about this, it's much better to be out in the air with a ball. Some people want to take more time before getting out there to be sure.

"I'm just going with what the staff tell me. I won't rush but obviously I'm keen to get back as soon as I can."

Arsenal hope to have Ramsey available for selection by the end of November.

The sight of Ramsey on the way back to action is a boost to the Gunners who see him as one of the players who can take over from Cesc Fabregas - who is likely to miss the match against Birmingham City tomorrow - when the Spain midfielder eventually leaves the club.
