One year was enough. As it relates to the composition of the Pro League next season, the two sides promoted from the first division will certainly be familiar.

Emirates and Sharjah, both relegated last season, will be back in the Pro League when it resumes later this year.

"The first division league has become more exciting and competitive thanks to the hard work of the players and clubs' managements to excel," the Football Association president Yousuf Al Serkal said.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Aboutrika, the Egypt international, said he will return to parent club Al Ahly when his six-month loan spell at Baniyas ends.

"I have no desire to remain after my loan period ends," he said ahead of tomorrow's opening match of a two-leg final against Al Khor of Qatar for the Gulf Club Championship (GCC). "I am still very committed to Baniyas and will give my best."

Baniyas play Al Khor on Friday night away and the return leg on May 23.

They also have Pro League games - against Al Jazira on May 20 and the last game against Al Wasl on May 26 - as they aim to finish in a qualifying spot for next season's Asian Champions League (ACL).
