Al Ain gave Cosmin Olaroiu an extension to 2015, removing rumours the Romanian would leave the Garden City club.
Pro League: Cosmin Olaroiu to be offered an extension at Al Ain
ABU DHABI // Al Ain are prepared to stick with Cosmin Olaroiu, their coach, over the long term.
The Romanian will be given a contract extension into 2015 and the terms already are being prepared, according to Mohammed Obaid Hamdoon, a member of the club's board of directors.
"This is one way we can show the club has faith on the coach," Hamdoon said during the official introduction of Ibrahim Diaky as an Al Ain player at the Emirates Towers on Tuesday.
Olaroiu led the Garden City club to the Pro League title in 2012 and was given a contract extension into 2014 last season, and the club will add another year on the back end after claiming the league title for a second successive year.
"Our ambition is to win more trophies in the coming season and we have confidence in the coach," Hamdoon said. "We have already started to prepare for the upcoming season with Diaky as our first significant new signing.
"Diaky has a lot of experience and quality, and he can gel with the quality players around him at Al Ain.
"We have some outstanding players in the midfield, yet we thought we were short of another playmaker in the middle, and Diaky fits that bill perfectly for us. His presence will certainly strengthen the team overall."
Diaky, 31, said he was already looking forward to the new challenge with the Pro League champions.
"Al Ain have the potential and the quality to achieve their objectives and as such it provides me with a new challenge to contribute to their success," he said.
"When I decided to sign for Al Ain, the first thing that crossed my mind was the quality of players around me. With this kind of quality, combined with good work ethics, I am sure we can achieve all our objectives."
