Pakistan put Latif and Manzoor on standby

Pakistan put batsmen Khalid Latif and Khurrum Manzoor on standby for this month's one-day series against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi.

KARACHI // Pakistan have placed the young batsmen Khalid Latif and Khurrum Manzoor on standby for this month's one-day series against the West Indies to be played in Abu Dhabi. The two have been shortlisted as potential replacements for the senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf and the opener Nasir Jamshed who were named in the Abu Dhabi-bound squad yesterday, with Yousuf's position in the squad unclear and Jamshed still not fully recovered from a bout of malaria.

"We are still waiting from final word from Yousuf on whether he has gone to India to join the Indian Cricket League while Jamshed is still not properly recovered from a bout of malaria he suffered recently," the Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam said. Pakistan play three one-day internationals against West Indies from Nov 12-16. *Reuters
