DUBAI // Pakistan completed their first series cleensweep against England with a 71-run victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The touring side, who were set a target of 324 to win the third and final match of the series, were bowled out for 252. Paceman Umar Gul (4-61) and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal (4-67) were the most successful bowlers in the fourth day's play.
Pakistan had previously beaten England by 10 wickets and 72 runs in the first and second Tests respectively.
Resuming on 36, England's opening batsmen Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook added 12 runs to the team total before the captain was trapped lbw by Abdur Rehman, the left-arm spinner, for 26.
Cook, who was later caught by Younis Khan off the bowling of Ajmal for 49, had even been given a reprieve of the innings, when Gul dropped a simple chance at long leg off the bowling of Rehman.
Ajmal also sent back Trott, caught by fellow spin bowler Rehman (2-97) for 18, before bowling out Pietersen on the same score.
Gul then dismissed Ian Bell (10) and Eoin Morgan (31) after the middle-order batting pair put together a 37-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
