Records The previous biggest Royal Rumble was in 2011 when 40 male Superstars competed and it was won by Alberto Del Rio. April's event in Jeddah will take that record, and will also be in contention to break the 2011 show's record for being the longest rumble, which lasted 1 hour, 9 minutes and 49 seconds.
How it works A Royal Rumble will start with two Superstars and then at a designated period, which has in the past ranged from 60 seconds, 90 seconds to two minutes, a new Superstar will join the match. That will continue until every competitor comes out. The only way to be eliminated is by being thrown over the top rope, with both feet hitting the floor on the outside of the ring.
The winner is the last superstar stood in the ring after every other competitor has been eliminated.
What to expect Daniel Bryan, the four-time WWE world champion, told The National: "We are having the largest Royal Rumble match ever. Which to me is crazy! 50 people in a Royal Rumble? It is going to be nuts."
