Reema Juffali continued her impressive start to her motor racing career by becoming the first Saudi woman to win a circuit race on Saturday.

Juffali took first place in the Silver Category and fourth overall in the TRD GT86 Cup at Yas Marina Circuit.

The track holds happy memories for Juffali, who in October became the first Saudi female race licence holder to compete in a series.

It comes on the back of a double success at Dubai Autodrome a week previous where Juffali, 26, took two a Silver Cup victories.

Juffali finished fourth overall and first in the Silver Cup in the 20-minute opening encounter at Yas Marina on Saturday. However, a controversial post-race 10 second time penalty demoted her one position in both standings.

Clearly fired up, Juffali, along with her Dragon Racing support team, executed a pit-stop strategy that kept her out on track while her rivals pitted. She lapped the capital's track faster than she had done in qualifying, and her "in lap" prior to her pit stop was the fastest middle sector of any driver all weekend.

She emerged ahead of the pack and took the chequered flag ahead of her more experienced rivals.

Juffali now leads the Silver Category in the TRD GT86 Cup after three rounds.

The next round is at Yas Marina Circuit on January 18-19.
