OVERVIEW

An overview of the entire 2016 Dubai Tour route. The third edition of the Dubai Tour see 16 teams competing over four stages across some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. The race will include the emirate of Fujiarah for the first time and will also be the longest yet with the four stages totalling a distance of 671km.

STAGE 1 — DUBAI SILICON OASIS (179km)

The first stage of this year’s race rides through the stretch of desert between Dubai and Fujairah and will take on four different Emirates, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. After passing the safe and flat Dubai Silicon Oasis section, the route hits a sequence of hills in the Al Hajar Mountains. The last part of this stage is entirely in Fujairah.

STAGE 2 — NAKHEEL STAGE (188km)

Stage 2 is divided into two parts, the first outside Dubai, partly in the desert. The second part enters the Dubai Marina before ending on Palm Jumeirah. The race will pass Al Marmoun Racetrack and the Al Quadra bike path. After passing the Hamdan Sports Complex, the peloton will return to the city past Dubailand, Dubai Miracle Garden, Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Sports City. The Grand Finale will be a 3km sprint finish on the Palm.

STAGE 3 — THE WESTIN STAGE (172km)

Characterised by its long stretch of desert, Stage 3 will cross Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Upon leaving Dubai, the race will reach Lahbab, a small village on the motorway, before passing through Al Madan and Al Malahia. On the road to Hatta, the peloton will encounter the Hajar Mountains where the riders will face two climbs. The last 3km of this stage will provide the toughest test as riders face a continuous ascent on the final climb.

STAGE 4 — BUSINESS BAY STAGE (137km)

The final stage on the Dubai Tour runs through Deira, over Al Maktoum Bridge and the Dubai Creek close to Port Rashid, before heading along Jumeirah Road past the Union House Flag. From there, the riders will take a u-turn at the Burj Al Arab hotel and return along Jumeirah Road towards Buisness Bay where a sprit finish will conclude the tour.
