The New York Yankees have been declared Major League Baseball's most valuable team for a 23rd consecutive year, according to the annual list published by Forbes.
The 27-time World Series champions are estimated to be worth $5 billion (Dh18.3b), up nine per cent from last year, Forbes said.
The Los Angeles Dodgers ($3.4b), Boston Red Sox ($3.3b), Chicago Cubs ($3.2b) and San Francisco Giants ($3.1b) complete the top five.
Reigning World Series champions Washington Nationals were valued at $1.9b.
According to Forbes, the average MLB team is now worth $1.85 billion, a four per cent rise from last year – the smallest year-over-year increase in a decade.
