The 2020 Major League Baseball season was supposed to be enjoying its opening weekend, starting on Thursday.
However, much like almost every sports event or league around the world, North America's premium baseball league has been suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Ballparks around the United States and Canada are typically packed over this weekend as fans welcome their teams back from the off-season. However, stadiums are now eerily quiet and empty as the MLB followed measures laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) "restricting events of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks".
The MLB, therefore, announced earlier this month that "the opening of the 2020 regular season will be pushed back in accordance with that guidance".
