James Reimer produced a 32-shot shutout to help the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils in the NHL.

The veteran goaltender kept his team in the contest before the home side capped a miserable night for their struggling opponents in the final period with goals from Phil Kessel (power play) and Jay McClement - an empty net effort in the last minute.

The Chicago Blackhawks moved two points closer to clinching the top Western Conference seed in the Stanley Cup play-offs with a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

The Montreal Canadiens had already booked their play-off place - but a 7-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers leaves them vulnerable in the race for the North-east Division's top spot.

Ryan Kesler scored twice for the Vancouver Canucks as they ended the play-off hopes of the Nashville Predators with a 7-3 victory.

The Columbus Blue Jackets edged out the Colorado Avalanche 4-3, the Minnesota Wild saw off the Calgary Flames by the same score, while the San Jose Sharks won the day's late game - downing the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0.
