The Anaheim Ducks will hope history repeats itself after clinching the Pacific title for the first time since 2007.
The division win that year was a prelude to their Stanley Cup success, and now the Ducks will look to restage that feat following their title-winning 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers last night.
Rookie goaltender Viktor Fasth made 24 saves as Ryan Getzlaf, Radek Dvorak and Sami Vatanen got on the scoresheet to confirm the win, and also secure second place in the Western Conference.
"It feels great to capture the division," said Fasth, who earned his fourth shutout of the season.
"We still have to keep working hard, but the last two games have been a step in the right direction for us. I think we were even better in this game than we were the night before. We still have things to work on before the playoffs, though."
The Ducks had lost four in a row before the two victories in Edmonton.
"First and foremost we needed to get back to our game and playing well," said Francois Beauchemin, the Anaheim defender. "We needed to get some confidence and score some goals.
"To get two wins here was good for us and it's great to get wrap up the division, but we still want to get better and have some real momentum going into the playoffs."
The Vancouver Canucks also sealed their division, beating the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 to become Northwest kings.
Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist, while Zack Kassian and Jannik Hansen also scored for the Canucks.
Dustin Jeffrey had a goal and an assist as the Pittsburgh Penguins made it seven wins in a row by seeing off the Ottawa Senators 3-1.
Jarome Iginla and Tyler Kennedy were also on the scoresheet for the Penguins, while Patrick Wiercioch got the Senators on the board.
Aaron Gagnon and Antti Miettinen scored for the Winnipeg Jets as they saw off the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 and Johan Franzen netted twice in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.
